Bacteria Test - detect harmful bacteria and germs
For many people, water testing is not part of a regular hygiene regime. It is usually assumed that the drinking water supplied by water companies is completely safe and wholesome. Indeed, this is generally the case, however it can only be guaranteed from the mains to the property boundary.
Water is monitored and treated by water companies in order to meet UK drinking water standards. However, as soon as this water passes the house water meter, it is no longer the water company's duty to ensure it is safe to drink. From this point on, the property owners themselves are the ones responsible for guaranteeing the cleanliness of the drinking water. We have summarised information concerning legislation and monitoring requirements in our IVARIO drinking water blog.
The Bacteria Test: analyses tap water for the following contaminants:
Coliform bacteria like to settle in household pipes. These pathogens are especially dangerous for those with weak immune systems and babies. The way from the water meter through the pipes is mostly a very long one. Therefore contamination of the tap water with coliform bacteria can only be ruled out by a water test that examines the water coming straight from the tap.
Ecsherichia coli (E.coli)
This strain of E.coli bacteria is present in both the human and animal gut. It is a pathogen that can cause symptoms such as diarrhoea and vomiting and the risk it poses for babies, young children and people with weak immune systems should not be underestimated.
The association between both types of bacteria and occuring symptoms is often recognised too late, or completely overlooked, which can exacerbate the effects.
You can find more information about coliform bacteria and the danger it represents in drinking water in our drinking water blog. Should you have any other questions, we are happy to answer them on the phone or via email.
Assurance through water testing
The Bacteria Test is simple to do and quickly provides peace of mind. We recommend regular water testing to quickly identify potential bacteria breeding grounds and take appropriate countermeasures.
Attention: to rule out the presence of heavy metals in drinking water and to determine if your water is suitable for use in baby formula, we recommend our Combined Test.
